Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestics Sales (BUD)

To support enterprises in exploring more diversified markets, the Government will launch a new round of enhancement measures by phases starting from July 2021, including extending the geographical coverage of the Fund to include all economies with which Hong Kong has signed Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (“IPPAs“) and increasing the cumulative funding ceiling per enterprise to $6 million.

Eligibility

  • Register in Hong Kong under the Business Registration Ordinance (Chapter 310);

  • Non-listed companies with substantial business operations in Hong Kong;

  • Whether you are engaged in manufacturing or service industries, or whether you have business operations in Mainland China and ASEAN, you are eligible to apply for funding.

Scope of funding

Maximum number of projects that each company can receive

  1. Expenses related to newly established business units (not more than 20% of the total project expenses)

  2. Hiring additional staff (not more than 50% of the total project expenditure)

  3. Purchase machinery, equipment and molds (not more than 50% of the total project expenditure)

  4. Product sample (not more than 20% of the total project expenditure)

  5. Advertising (not more than 50% of the total project expenditure)

  6. Exhibitions and promotional activities, as well as related transportation and accommodation expenses (transportation and accommodation expenses should not exceed 20% of the total project expenses)

  7. Design/produce promotional materials

  8. Online business platform

  9. Create/optimize web pages

  10. Mobile application (for promotional purposes) (not more than 50% of the total project expenditure)

  11. Testing and certification

  12. Registration of patents and trademarks directly related to the project (the cumulative amount of funding cannot exceed HK$170,000)

  13. External audit fees for the approved projects (full subsidy, up to HK$10,000 each time, included in the company's funding ceiling)
